A single spark becomes a flame. A flame becomes a fire.

In Look to the East, choreographer Julianna Rubio Slager draws on the timeless symbol of fire to explore how divine movement begins—small, quiet, almost invisible—and grows into something unstoppable when joined by others. Set to a driving, cinematic score, the ballet captures the sacred mystery of awakening: how transformation starts within, and spreads when hearts and spirits catch flame together.

With striking ensemble work, spiraling formations, and moments of stillness that burst into motion, the piece evokes both ancient prophecy and present-day longing. Look to the East reminds us that revival doesn’t always begin with noise—it begins with light, and it spreads through those willing to carry the fire forward.
